Wildara is proud to announce it has recently been engaged by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) - Office of Australian War Graves (OAWG) for the provision of technical services for preparation and installation of concrete headstones and replacement of all commemorative bronze plaques at Lae War Cemetery in Papua New Guinea.

The Lae War Cemetery was established in 1944 by the Australian Army Graves Service and handed over to the Commission in 1947. The Cemetery contains the graves of men who lost their lives during the New Guinea Campaign in World War II. The majority, over 2000, are from Australia with others from Great Britain, India, and Papua New Guinea.

The project involves the production and installation of 2,819 concrete pedestals and the installation of the commemorative bronze plaques. Wildara’s role in the project is the Provision of Supervision and Quality Control throughout the production and placement of the concrete pedestals.

To enable the successful delivery of the project Wildara is proving the following services;

  • Quality Assurance,
  • Programming,
  • Technical Support and
  • Contract Administration.

The project is planned to commence in October with completion expected June 2018.
